So far so good. Office staff is pleasant and very accommodating. Very nice young man (Gregory) did my 6 month service check up. I’m hesitant to rate higher than 4 as I’ve been reading a lot of very negative reviews on the website having to do with gross overcharging for unnecessary parts and services. I hope the new owner/management is a different story. We shall see. Time will tell…

Have used this company for many years always pleased with the quality of their service and the price. Highly recommend.

Technician arrived at the scheduled time I was surprised at how quickly and quietly he was done with the service. Showed me the job he did on the unit. Professional and gave me some tips on how to care for my a/c unit.

Posted before finishing. The Tech Leonel Echevarria arrived a 9:40 pm. Said the unit was frozen and turned off the complete unit from the outside and said he would be back between 8-9 am the next day. Never arrived so I called to verify. Had to call 4 times and spoke with the person picking up the phone Luna. No help and was given a different excuse each time I called. Last call she said they were not able to get parts or honor the warranty of the unit. I requested a manager to call me back still waiting since Wednesday. I had also said how do you know the unit needs parts of the tech never even opened the until to see what the issue was. Had to call another company they came they reset the unit and it has been working completely for two today. To say the least I pay a yearly fee which was deducted on 7-29 which the person I spoke to did not even see in their system. Honestly I never write review posts. But this infuriated me so much for them not to have the decency to call me back and leave me with a into that I had no idea how to even turn back on. If you like to get good service and at least acknowledge you do not call or use them. You will regret it.

DO NOT sign up for their Annual service plan. COMPLETE rip off. Just had my semi annual maintenance plan after unit was installed 6 months ago. Tried Telling me that I needed a full cleaning of the coil and a special electrostatic air filter for an additional $1,200 after spending SEVERAL thousand dollars in February 2024 for a complete new unit (Condensing unit and indoor air handler) all because I have dogs. Nickel and diming for everything. I understand they shed and there is dog fur but come on people. Additionally, I did not realize that the installers did not put an air filter in the air handler after they had install and I only realized when I went to change it a month later and there was no filter in place. Very concerning. I would think an installer would provide this or at least tell the homeowner, " hey you need to put in an air filter" once they were finished with the new install.

Not the same company since Dustin sold it last year. Very disappointing. Workmanship and quality already suffered.

I am still waiting for Gypsy, their office manager, to call me. They overcharged after being told numerous times that the initial fee for call would be credited to additional charges.
I was a long-standing customer when Dustin was the owner. I can't believe the new owner will be treating loyal customers such such disrespect as not even retur. Our calls.
Unfortunately, I will no longer recommend or use this company. I also expect my refund.
A-Max owners, kindly respond.

Yoel was nice but I let him hear the recording on the noise the AC was making on and off. I had to encourage him to come upstairs to see the AC as he was ready to leave. Did not seem interested in looking at the unit. I realize that if the AC is not making the noise at the time of his visit it makes it harder but I would ask that someone with MORE experience could be sent. Thank you

My experience with A-MAX Air Conditioning was deeply unsatisfactory. The communication was poor, with frequent delays and unhelpful responses. The service itself was unreliable. Additionally, the cost of the repairs was unreasonably high, and the company showed no accountability when I reached out with concerns.

In summary, A-MAX Air Conditioning failed to meet even basic expectations for customer service. I strongly advise seeking alternative companies that are more reliable and customer-focused to avoid similar frustrations.

After 15 years with Amax, we will be finding a new AC company. Ever since they were under new ownership a few years ago, the quality has declined to the point we can no longer depend on them in an honest, responsive and fair manner. 7 years ago we were so impressed that we purchased a top of the line unit to replace our aging unit. That unit was fine for a year, but started to experience a lot of problems. Leaks, electrical wiring, faulty components etc. But Amax stood by their work and fixed everything without batting an eye. Quickly, professionally and with a smile. Reminders for regular maintenance and reasonable costs for things not covered by warranty. I could trust them.

Then the new owners showed up and the techs we were working with were constantly trying to upsell and charging for every piece of work. “We don’t honor the work done before we took over.” Every routine maintenance visit was now a big bill. $1200 here, $800 there, $1000 for this or that. Wires chaffing due to wrong installation? Not their problem now. Fan replaced two years ago craps out? Nope. Among other things.

The office staff has also been a source of increasing frustration. I get put on hold and have to call back. Best I can describe my last call with them was the most “audible” eye roll of a response to a simple call to check when the tech would arrive (after them rescheduling twice).

Straw that broke the camels back was after ALL of this work, we called to report decreased performance and cooling. Tech came and said we needed coil and blower cleaning. Everything else was fine with the unit. Great! That’s it? Sure. Another $1250 for that. Refrigerant good? Compressor? All good.

Never really cooled well again. Call for more service. After 2 failed attempts to be on time for the service call, the tech comes again. Says the coil is cracked and we need a new unit. Leaking refrigerant. Says all this like we will just sign on the dotted line and drop another $5-7K.

Could the coil cleaning have had anything to do with it? I’m suspicious.

Nope. Done. The attitude was poor. No “Im sorry” “man this sucks” or anything resembling empathy for the situation. No “hey you have been loyal customers and we sold you a dud, lemme talk to the boss and see what we can do” Not asking for anything free, but stand by the work and loyalty to work out something.

I’m going to call another company for a reassessment on this unit and take my business elsewhere. Plenty of AC companies out there. Should have seen the writing on the wall and bailed long ago.

UPDATE 9/10: we had another company, Weathermakers, come out. They identified at leaking thermal expansion valve and a small leak from a part rubbing. No coil damage. No whole new unit needed. So basically AMax all full of BS. Fixed and blowing cold again with a warranty on their work.

Go up
