We needed to have an 85-ft oak tree removed - it was sandwiched between our house and the overhead power line running to our house. It was a big and tedious job.

East Coast Arborist was very responsive, communicative, and professional throughout the whole process. I worked with Katie to get the quote (done by Jonathan), sign the proposal, and get the scheduling right. They were really helpful in all of this, answering my questions and working with my schedule.

Then, the crew actually showed up when they said they would! It took 3 days of hard work to get the job done. The crew arrived on time each day, and they did wonderful work! They were so careful to protect the house and property, despite the tricky location of the tree. They were professional and friendly and nice to work with. We enjoyed having them around. And they cleaned up extensively at the end of each day.

Terry has left, and East Coast Arborist may never be the same. We happily used ECA several times in the past, but will no longer return to them following our most recent experience. We asked for a quote to clean up any dead branches on a neighbor's tree, and were given one based on a Google image rather than an in-person visit (first red flag). It took them several months and a few follow-ups to actually perform the work. When the crew arrived, they asked me what they were supposed to do to the tree (odd, and another red flag, as usually the professional "arborist" team would be the one advising us on that). It turns out our neighbors were no longer interested in having their portion of the tree trimmed, so we changed course and just had ECA clean up some of the branches that overhanged into our yard. We asked ECA for a change in the total bill to reflect a significantly smaller job than initially quoted (probably about 40-50% less), and ECA was only willing to offer a 10% reduction.

The crew seemed nice enough, but we didn't get the same level of expert opinion and experience as Terry used to provide. Instead it was a landscape crew that wanted our direction on what the tree needed. Our misstep for not pushing back on the quote when no one even came to look at the tree first, as there was clearly no connection between what ECA proposed to do, what they instructed the crew to do (if at all), and what work actually occurred. It was a pricey, four-figure lesson that we need to find a new business for our tree/arborist needs.

We emailed Terry to come give us a quote for work needed with our huge magnolia tree, he was very prompt came to our house made some great suggestions, we ended up doing what he suggested, had our magnolia trimmed, a tree removed at the front of the house and another trimmed. We couldn't be happier with the work, it looks great, they did an excellent job with clean up we would recommend them to anyone.

I had some tree branches that were damaged from last winters blizzard. I called their office and Terry came out the next day to give an estimate and the branches were hauled off within the week. I appreciated his prompt response and professionalism. As a side note, I hired Terry and his company about 17 years ago to remove three rather large trees and grind the stumps and I received the same level of customer service. I never had a problem with those trees shooting suckers - so they did a thorough job. I can't recommend East Coast Arborist highly enough!
