I called Heritage Tree Service because I have a very young Chinese Pistache tree that is struggling. Rodney was very quick to respond to my email and scheduled a consultation very quickly. I told him that in that area it was planted a pine tree had been, but had since died. So, deep in the soil old wood chips may be the issue. Rodney put me on a watering schedule and we have hope it will survive. Meanwhile Rodney checked over other trees and plants in my yard and gave me very useful advice. Rodney is very responsive and professional. Please call Rodney when you need knowledgable guidance rather than another sales pitch.

I had Heritage Tree out twice at my home. Once for a two hour consultation on the trees across my property and another for a custom fruit tree pruning class. Consulted Rodney on the advice of a landscape designer I was working with. She said he really knows trees and isn't associated with any tree
service companies, which could bias an opinion. Rodney is a Master
Certified Arborist and we had him out to evaluate a Japanese maple tree
that has been slowly declining in health for a few years. Wanted to know
if it can be saved or if it's best to start with a new tree. Should mention we've had several other arborists out in previous years and none of them
agreed with each other as to the problem with our Japanese maple.
He also evaluated our other trees for health and longevity and confirmed our only issue is with the maple. He did a soil test (extra charge) to determine what soil amendments might be necessary prior to planting a new tree in that location. He also nixed an idea we had to plant three olive trees on our property in a space that would have created problems with the trees' roots over time so he saved us that potential disappointment and expense--and he suggested three other tree species that would thrive in that same location. Rodney was well worth the money we spent on his expertise and professional experience.

Highest points for Rodney! Our previous property in Los Angeles had over 100 trees (including 30+) citrus so I always had an arborist "on call". Being new to this area, I did not know who to contact for our much smaller property and am very grateful to friends for referring us to Heritage. Rodney answered my call almost immediately and came over (on time) at the first opportunity. I was concerned primarily about one citrus but asked that he review all of our new landscaping. He provided excellent advice on soil and nutrient needs for everything and unfortunately found unexpected disease in the two large mature olive trees that we had purchased from an olive tree dealer in the Central Valley. The trees are the focus of our front yard and we are devastated to learn that they were sold to us and installed with Olive Knot disease, which we knew nothing about and for which there is no cure. We cannot afford to replace the trees at this point so Rodney has recommended a couple of companies to us run by arborists to provide pruning and future care which can hopefully arrest the progress of the disease. We would without doubt have lost the trees without Rodney and are hopeful that thanks to his advice, and the services of other experts, we can keep them viable for the foreseeable future. I urge anyone with landscaping they care about to contact Rodney - it is very difficult to find good professionals and you most likely have problems you don't know about!

Rodney came out to provide us a consultation on our huge old pine tree that was showing it was having some issues. The tree is so huge we needed to know if it was dying or not.
We chose Rodney as he is an Arborist that is not with a tree trimmer type business and we needed to have the tree’s health assessed without bias.
Rodney checked out our tree and pointed out the beetle issue and another issue the tree had. He recommended a watering schedule and broader watering pattern; with info on how the watering would help the tree. He indicated the pine was a Monterey pine and gave us information on lifespan of the tree and estimated its current age. He noted that the tree still had a lot of green growth and may survive with the recommended watering; though the beetles and previous new construction effects on the tree could impact its life. He told us what to look for if it were to decline beyond help.
He also looked at our other 10 trees and told us what type of trees they were. Previously a tree trimmer had told us we had 8 Cedar and 3 pine trees. Rodney identified 3 of our trees as Redwood not Cedar and that the 2 pines in the back as Stone Pines; he told us how the bark and needles are different between a Redwood and Cedar and how our 2 Stone Pines are different than our Monterey Pine. He provided recommendations on those trees also and discussed some other plants for our size of yard and sandy soil.
Rodney is a very nice person to talk to and will answer all your questions knowledgeably and thoroughly. We are glad we chose Rodney and would recommend his Arborist expertise to anyone who needs to understand trees and their health. Rodney spent as much time as we needed, and we are very satisfied with his service.

We are planning to re-landscape our property to be more fire-safe and less water-thirsty. Got great advice from Rodney about which trees to remove and which trees to keep, and how to better maintain the ones we are keeping. plus a list of alternative trees that better suit our climate! So much good information for the cost. 100% recommend.
